LONDON, July 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Experts from the UK, France, Germany, Ireland, India, Canada, United States and Australia meet to discuss 'Practical steps to protect organisations from out-of-control spreadsheets'.
The European Spreadsheet Risks Interest Group (EuSpRIG) is holding its 2010 conference on the theme of Practical steps to protect organisations from out-of-control spreadsheets on the 15th - 16th July 2010 at the University of Greenwich, London, United Kingdom. The line up of 20 speakers includes Dean Buckner of the UK FSA, leading researcher Prof. Ray Panko of the University of Hawaii, financial modeller Morten Siersted of F1F9, actuary Mary Pat Campbell, and developer Simon Murphy.
EuSpRIG once again brings together the cream of the crop of expertise, research excellence, and heavyweight industry figures to present the latest views on spreadsheet risk, said Patrick O'Beirne, Chair 2010 of EuSpRIG. More and more organizations are accepting the need to manage data and spreadsheet-based processes to achieve control and good governance, he added.
The FSA paper on 'Spreadsheets and Solvency' II will be keenly awaited by delegates from the insurance industry. Financial modellers will be keen to debate 'Spreadsheet Engineering of Large Financial Planning Models', 'Evaluating Financial Model Performance', and 'Best Practice Modelling Standards'. Risk management features in seven other papers, and approaches to training and curriculum development in four more. Alternative technologies to spreadsheets are explored in 'Transforming Critical Spreadsheets into Web Applications at Zurich Finance' and 'Smarter Spreadsheets'.
