LUTON, England, December 19 /PRNewswire/ -- With immigration and benefit fraud at an all time high and constant news of security threats from incorrectly managed data, Mantissa Corporation wonder just what they must do to make themselves heard in 2008. Throughout 2007 they have contacted numerous politicians, government departments and wrote separately to every member of the House of Lords.
"iDovos" is a proactive product as opposed to reactive, Mantissa claim it could eliminate identity fraud. iDovos works as a timer, the owner sets their credit card (or passport, driving license, bank account) to "ON" when they want to use it. Once the predefined time allowance has been reached, the account automatically turns itself off. Use can be set for the same hour every day, four hours on a Saturday, however often is required. Think about it, what would be the point in stealing a credit card when the chances are that it is de-activated, and any attempt to use it fraudulently would immediately be stopped at the checkout?
iDovos could be applied to a benefit application, rail card, passport - , anything that requires or is capable of being configured to require an on-line authentication.
Providing permission is available to access records held by other organisations, iDovos could be used to verify an individual's identity (say, for a mortgage application) and if linked to national insurance numbers, to authenticate existing data. A secure and accurate national identity database could be created which should in turn greatly countermand terrorism.
Mantissa are of the opinion that:
The government and major organisations are not prepared to allow the individual any control over how their identity is used
Banks and financial organisations do not want to curb spending, they may suffer huge losses due to fraud but this is easily recovered by increasing customer charges. It is not in their interest to offer a solution - perhaps they could be forced to?
Mantissa Corporation require just one bank or building society to act responsibly and offer their customers iDovos, allowing them to have control over when and how their identity is used.
Whichever organisation is prepared to partner Mantissa Corporation in this enterprise could become known as "The Company that stamped out Identity Theft".
