Codexis, Inc., a private biotechnology company and leading developer of clean manufacturing processes, today announced the opening of Codexis Laboratories Hungary Kft (CLH) in Budapest.

CLH, the second Codexis facility in Europe, will be a research center of excellence in fermentation strain development and process technology. It will be an expansion of the company's existing research and development operations in the US, Germany and Singapore. The laboratory will be headed by Ronen Tchelet, Ph.D., who is joining Codexis as Vice President and General Manager of CLH. Dr. Tchelet has experience in strain and technology improvement for industrial fermentation processes, combined with extensive knowledge in molecular biology. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and his Ph.D. degree in molecular microbiology and biotechnology from the Tel-Aviv University. He accomplished his post doctoral in the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG).
