About 1.6 million cage-free eggs from Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. sold in Kroger and Brookshire Grocery stores, along with smaller boutique retailers, have been recalled due to Salmonella enteritidis, which causes fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and can cause arterial infections and even deaths in children but no issues have been reported yet. The recall is proactive due to testing.
The 'best by' dates are between July 20, 2026 and August 17, 2026 and were sold from New Mexico across the southwest to Mississippi. The company has halted production while they correct the issue.
You should not eat them but you won't need a receipt to return them for a full refund.
