People who continually fall back on another hypothesis when their first hypothesis is shown to be wrong are using end-oriented belief. 

It means that evidence will be shaped to fit a particular conclusion and that means a writer is wasting their time replying. A person can never be wrong when they simply need to come up with a new speculation about what may be happening.


If you ridicule how well kids do on tests and then insist we teach to the test too much, you don't care about children, you have an end-oriented belief.

This is a common tactic for the anti-vaccine community but lots of other groups around medical issues use it also.
