If education can help attitudes about evolution, we have a lot of educating to do. Maybe it was my Scientific Blogging T-shirt, or my anti-Bush bumper sticker, but something motivated a member of the church near my children's day care to hand me this well-reasoned, tightly argued attack on evolution: Click the image to go read the whole enlightening thing at Chick Publications The tract marches through smiling mutant fish with knobbly-kneed legs, moral relativism, and of course, Hitler's blond-haired, blue-eyed master race, all the result of the corrupting theories of Charles Darwin taught by the immoral public school system. As you might guess, the tract ends the way these things always end: after making fun of his fundamentalist Christian schoolmate, little Tyler drops dead and goes to hell "with billions of others who believe we evolved from monkeys." Wow. Perhaps the most amazing thing about this tract was noticed by one of my colleagues: "billions of others who believe we evolved from monkeys?" That's a rather optimistic estimate.
