Yes, yes, we all care about the environment, though sociological studies show we mostly care about the environment when it comes to the behavior of others.  Example: If you are an earnest writer on climate change you will fly to a climate conference because the value of the personal relationship building versus watching the proceedings is more - and if you can inject yourself with a placebo like buying carbon offsets, so much the better.   Then you will write an article telling business people to use WebEx.

And if the goal is simply to break even on the ridiculous pollution footprint you already have, rather than lower it, you can likely acquire this Bugatti Veyron to sit alongside your electric car.    Wait, isn't the Veyron just an expensive Volkswagen?  Yes, technically, but this Bugatti sort of  Volkswagen has an 8-liter, 16-cylinder engine and 1,001 horsepower.  Why 1,001 instead of 1,000?   I don't know.  t seems to make them another $2,000 in profit.     The future Veyron SuperSport will have 1,200 HP and go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds.   Cost: $2.4 million.  See?  $2,000 per HP.

If you need more rationalization to justify this car, it gets what I consider an impressive 15 MPG highway - really, for an engine that can fly a jet that's pretty good.   Sure, a Prius gets 50 MPG but only Al Gore's son can get any speed out of those things.    And if you're flying off to a climate conference you sure don't want to be late and miss your plane.
