NUREMBERG, Germany, December 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Ziehm Imaging's mobile C-arms have not just been a hit with Germany's Federal Armed Forces this year. The market leader in mobile C-arms also turned heads at this year's iF product design awards, with its Ziehm Solo Portable C-arm receiving an award in the medicine / health + care category. The jury at the iF awards was particularly impressed by the company's innovative approach as well as the unique design of the product, which was specifically tailored to the needs of the Armed Forces in Germany.
Ziehm Solo Portable is the first modular C-arm that enables high-quality imaging. It comprises six modules that can be dismantled for transport, making it ideal for use in inaccessible regions or mobile OR units. The compact device takes up minimum storage space and is easy to use thanks to the touchscreen mounted on the C-arm.
The iF product design awards are held every year and recognize the outstanding design achievements of innovative companies. This year, the jury of internationally renowned designers, entrepreneurs and professors judged 2,756 products submitted by 1,121 participants from 43 countries. These will now have the chance to win one of 50 iF gold awards in spring 2011.
The iF award is further proof of the fact that Ziehm Imaging is on the path to success. The global player continues to consolidate its position as market leader, with sales of C-arms already totaling 800 this year and revenue up by 25 percent.
