Adam Fisher (36) from Hertfordshire, lost 15 stones in ten months with the Cambridge Diet last year and has become the dad he has always wanted to be.

Adams weight crept up when he suffered a motor bike injury in 2000, leaving him inactive and forced into a career change. He went from an extremely active job in structural engineering to a 9-5 desk job.

At 6ft 6in, construction manager Adam sported a 60in waist and consumed almost 8,500 calories per day. The turning point for Adam came when he realised that his two young children were missing out on a dad and he was missing out on the best years of being a dad. Adam said: I am much more involved in my children's lives now, it's great'. My joints no longer ache; I can now play football with my son, Jake (11) and go biking with my daughter, Georgia (10).

Adams extraordinary weight loss achievement was recognised by the Cambridge Diet when his local Cambridge Counsellor, Iris Simmons entered him into the Cambridge Diet's annual competition - Slimmer of the Year - which he won proudly.

Now, Adam again is a competitor for an even higher accolade - he has been nominated to represent Britain in the first ever International Slimmer of the Year event. This competition is the first of its kind in the UK. Adam said: It is an honour to represent the UK in this massive event. I am not only doing for myself, but for all the other dieters out there who have been successful like me, and for those who may be struggling to achieve their goal - I understand how hard it is.

Adam will compete against 9 other worthy nominees from all over the world, some of whom won Slimmer of the Year in their own country. Each one is eager to take home this prestigious title at Cambridge Diet's 25th Anniversary celebrations at Downing College, Cambridge University on July 4th 2009.

These 9 other Cambridge Diet slimmers' are from Ireland, Australia, South Africa, Poland, Malaysia, Holland, Cyprus, Dubai and Russia. Read (and see) more of Adam's story and how the other 9 contestants lost their weight on the official website (http://www.cambridgedietawards.com)
