GENEVA, May 13, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- ConvaTec, a world-leading developer and marketer of innovative medical technologies for community and hospital care, today announced that the company will host a symposium focused on new evidence on silver dressing technology during the 20th Conference of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The symposium titled New Evidence on Silver Dressing Technology - Making the Choice Clearer will take place from 15:30-16:30, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 and will be chaired by Finn Gottrup, MD, DMSci, with presentations from Matthias Johannes (Hans) Hoekstra, MD, Philip Bowler, MPhil, BSc, FIBMS, and Marco Romanelli, MD, PhD. The symposium will feature presentation of evidence that demonstrates that effectiveness among groups of wound care products cannot be determined only by the ingredients they share. Choice of silver dressing must take into consideration the impact that dressing function has on clinical outcomes.
This symposium will highlight data that will enable clinicians to evaluate comparative dressing attributes and help them make informed decisions about which silver dressings best suits the needs of the wound. Following the presentations, attendees are invited to participate in an interactive Ask the Experts panel discussion.
Symposium agenda: - Introduction and Overview - Finn Gottrup, MD, DMSci - Topical silver-impregnated dressings and the importance of the dressing technology: A review of evidence - Matthias Johannes (Hans) Hoekstra, MD - The impact of dressing conformability on anti-microbial activity of silver-containing wound dressings: Results of an in vitro study - Philip Bowler, MPhil, BSc, FIBMS - Making the right choice: Clinical experience with silver dressing technology - Marco Romanelli, MD, PhD - Ask the Experts Panel Discussion - All
