Sonos (http://www.sonos.com/), the leading developer of wireless multi-room music systems for the home, today announced two significant updates to the Sonos Multi-Room Music System (http://www.sonos.com/demo). Beginning today, Sonos customers in the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, and Turkey can play the Deezer Radio (http://www.deezer.com/) service, for free, in every room of their home with a one-button update to Sonos Software 2.8. Now every Sonos system comes with access to free music and radio from all over the world. Additionally, Sonos today released a free update to the Sonos Controller for iPhone (http://www.sonos.com/iphone) (version 2.8.1). European music lovers with an iPhone 3G, iPhone or iPod touch can now control the award-winning Sonos Multi-Room Music System in their native language. The new Sonos Controller for iPhone is available today as a free download on the iTunes App Store (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=293523...).
Sonos is committed to providing our customers free content out of the box and innovative ways to control music in the home, said John MacFarlane, CEO, Sonos, Inc. By continually offering our customers free feature updates we provide even more ways to enjoy the music they love, all over their home.
The Sonos Multi-Room Music System is a unique multi-room music experience that keeps getting better over time with free software updates that connect music lovers to new content, features and more. Sonos Software 2.8 features free access to the popular Deezer Radio on Sonos. After signing up for a free account on Deezer.com, Deezer Radio on Sonos streams music directly from the Internet to the house so it works even when the computer is turned off - no need to download songs or have a server running.
Deezer Radio on Sonos provides instant, computer-free access to radio channels created from a library of millions of tracks by major and independent labels. Sonos customers can create customised Smartradio stations based upon a specific artist and discover a world of new music. Customers can also tune in to more than 30 Deezer pre-programmed stations to hear the most popular music of the day and their favourite genres such as Hip Hop, Rock, Electronic, Jazz, Live, Disco, and more.
Free, high-quality streaming of Deezer on Sonos is available in 30 different countries, including: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey.
Today's update to the award-winning Sonos Controller for iPhone interface provides Sonos customers with a variety of new features and functionality, including:
- Support for seven different languages - English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish - Wake to music with Sonos - Create, edit and delete multiple alarms on the Sonos system - Fall asleep to music with Sonos - Set timers for any room to turn off the music automatically - Playback of DRM protected Microsoft WMA files (including purchased Microsoft Windows Media downloads from stores such as the Zune Marketplace) - Computer-free setup - Search for and set up network music folders without touching a computer

Another exciting development related to Sonos and Apple is that Sonos now provides full support for music purchased from the Apple iTunes Music Store after April 7th. Apple's recent decision to provide 100% of its catalogue as DRM-free downloads means that Sonos customers can control and play any of the millions of songs purchased through iTunes and stored on their home PC, Mac or Network Attached Storage. By providing full support for AAC (Advance Audio Coding), Sonos customers around the world now have a legal online music store where they can buy all the music they love to play all over the house. And they can control it all from the palm of their hand with the Sonos Controller CR100, Sonos Controller for iPhone or both.
Finally, today Sonos announced a special promotion that allows customers to save up to euro 199 when they buy any Sonos ZonePlayer (ZP90 or ZP120) together with a Sonos Controller CR100. This limited-time offer is ideal for both new customers looking to get started with Sonos and current customers who want to add on to their existing systems. To add music to a room with existing audio equipment, the ZP90 and Sonos Controller combo is available for euro 599 (a savings of euro 149). For all other rooms - from the bedroom to the backyard - the amplified ZP120 and Controller combo is available for euro 699 (a savings of euro 199). The promotion expires May 31, 2009.
