TOKYO, March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced on March 14 that some of its services have been disrupted by the powerful earthquake that hit the Tohoku and Kanto regions of Japan on Friday, March 11.
Enterprise IP-VPN and e-VLAN services have been partially unavailable in the Tohoku region. The company is making every effort to fully restore these services.
Submarine cables connecting Japan with the United States and other parts of Asia have been partially damaged, but the company has been using backup cable routes to maintain uninterrupted service.
NTT Com's data center services have been operating without disruption.
Akira Arima, NTT Com's President and CEO, said, "NTT Com is making every effort to rapidly restore communication services affected by the earthquake."
