DALLAS, October 26 /PRNewswire/ -- As the adoption of Extended Access Control (EAC) ePassports expands, Entrust, Inc., announces the launch of the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) demonstration site. The online resource enables government agencies to conveniently test their SPOC implementations in preparation for full EAC ePassport deployments.
EAC technology is the most proven, trusted method of properly authenticating ePassports, said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. Entrust's SPOC online resource helps government agencies to properly test the standardized international communications protocol used to secure their EAC ePassport architectures.
Entrust's demonstration implements the standardized certificate management protocol to be used across international borders, emulates a fully functional SPOC interface and enables users to test their SPOC implementations online. It is capable of registering other SPOCs, receiving and responding to Document Verifying (DV) certificate requests from registered SPOCs on behalf of its own Country Verifying Certification Authority (CVCA), as well as sending and receiving certificate requests with other SPOCs on behalf of its own DV. The demonstration site includes separate synchronous and asynchronous endpoints, which allow full testing of all operations of the SPOC protocol in both synchronous and asynchronous modes.
Designed by the Brussels Interoperability Group, the SPOC model serves as the standardized mechanism for certificate management between countries for support of EAC-enabled ePassports. Each participating nation establishes a single SPOC interface that acts as a front-end for their domestic EAC components. International EAC certificate requests and responses are communicated directly between SPOCs.
Entrust provides a unique dual-rooted ePassport PKI CA to allow seamless migration from first-generation (BAC) deployment to second-generation (EAC) architectures. Entrust provides ePassport security for many governments, including the U.S., Finland, Singapore and New Zealand.
