- The European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology to Hold Press Conference With 4 Major Topics on Monday 15 September 2008.
More than 4,500 cancer and radiotherapy specialists will gather in Göteborg this September for the 27th annual congress of ESTRO. ESTRO 27 is to be held between the 14th and 18th September 2008 at the Göteborg Convention Centre in Göteborg, Sweden.
The congress will include teaching sessions, lectures, presentations of major breakthroughs, posters and discussions dealing with the different areas covered by Radiotherapy such as physics, radiobiology, clinical radiotherapy and brachytherapy. More than 1,500 abstracts have been submitted, which is the highest number ESTRO has ever received.
The congress will also present the largest industrial exhibition of radiotherapy in Europe with brand new materials exposed on 10,000 m2.

Opening press conference
ESTRO's President, Vincent Grégoire will present the main sessions of the congress and will describe the latest moves and major happenings occurring in the different fields of Radiotherapy.
New clinical results in radio-oncology in 2008
Data on new phase III trial on various sites will be presented for the first time.
Swedish proton therapy project
Sweden will launch a new process that is unique in Europe for treating cancer. The concept of 'distributed competence' involves 8 Swedish university hospitals that perform treatment plans close to the patients' home, who are then treated in a single place, at the proton centre of the Skandion clinic.
Radiotherapy Information Centre
ESTRO is launching a unique radiotherapy information tool in Europe. Dedicated to radiotherapy professionals, but also to patients and the media, it will provide very useful data that can be adapted for use by different public mediums.
