LONDON, August 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Ericsson has revealed that German Facebook users have played its free online pinball (http://apps.facebook.com/sonyericssonpinball) more than any other nationality since the launch of the game, last month.
13% of all Emusicon computer pinball (http://www.facebook.com/sonyericsson?v=app_10339498918ref=ts) games have been played by people in Germany, a staggering amount considering the country has the least number of Facebook users, approximately 10,250,000, in comparison with the top five user countries. The United Kingdom, with a total of 27,000,000 Facebook users, comes in second and has played 11.2% of all Emusicon Pinball games.
The others making up the top five are, India, Indonesia and the home of Sony Ericsson, Sweden, with Facebook users in the United States closely following in sixth. Analytics also show that casual gamers from the other continents, South America, Africa and Oceania, have also been enjoying the internet pinball (http://www.facebook.com/sonyericsson?v=app_10339498918ref=ts) game, proving that Emusicon Pinball has transcended language barriers and has truly been an international hit.
Hosted on the worldwide fan page, Sony Ericsson has combined the classic arcade game with Facebook to create a socialised version of pinball for twenty-first century gamers. Players can boast to their vast network of friends by posting high scores on their wall and also encourage them to compete for a place on the leader board. Of course, the global nature of Facebook means that friends may be anywhere in the world so pinball was specifically chosen to appeal to gamers from all cultures.
Head of Digital and CRM for Sony Ericsson, Ben Padley, was surprised by the huge interest from Germany but not by the overall international audience. He said, Comparing the overall number of Facebook users in Germany to the number of Emusicon Pinball games played is something we had not expected to see but it's fantastic to find that our German fans especially love the game.
Sony Ericsson was confident that players would come from all over the world because its fan base has always been far reaching. Choosing a simple, addictive and fun game was important to be able to engage all Facebook users and it seems Emusicon Pinball has been a hit with speakers of all languages.
