LONDON, April 26, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- There are currently over 21,000 jobs on http://www.theitjobboard.co.uk, this represents a 16% increase quarter on quarter. In the first quarter of this year, IT manager and IT support roles represented the highest proportion of jobs on site.
Contract positions have seen a significant shift, with an increase of 54 percent from the start of the year to the end of March.
The main skills in demand continue to be IT managers, IT support, project managers, SQL and software engineers. The pattern across all of these skills is heavily slanted towards permanent positions.
There has been significant demand for specialist skills such as IT security and .net roles. The number of IT security jobs posted, rose by 67% quarter on quarter, .net jobs increased by 51%. Indicating that the job market is showing some expansive growth in non core areas.
Commenting on the latest Skills in Demand figures, Alex Farrell, Managing Director of The IT Job Board said: We have continued to see a rapid rise in the number of positions being advertised in the first quarter of 2010, a real sign that the market is bouncing back.
