PALO ALTO, California, June 9 /PRNewswire/ --
- Accelerating global customer and community adoption
Nexenta Systems, Inc., developer of NexentaStor(TM), the leading Open Storage management software that provides enterprise class NAS/SAN/iSCSI capabilities for 80-90% savings versus legacy solutions, has achieved a number of milestones since the launch of the NexentaStor Enterprise Edition in late April of 2008:
-- A customer per day: Customer adoption has accelerated to over 1 a day. Recent reference customer additions include St. Mary's University and the University of Delaware. -- International growth in users and customers: approximately 65% of the over 3,000 free, Developer Editions that have been downloaded were downloaded to non-US locations; a similar percentage of paying customers are based outside of the United States. -- Release of additional user administration and security capabilities: NexentaStor was recently upgraded to support additional user administration and security capabilities. NexentaStor now supports native extended Access Control Lists that are CIFS and NFSv4 compliant as well as natively supporting POSIX permissions and also supports LDAP and Active Directory integration. What this means to end users is that NexentaStor integrates even better into enterprise environments and does so natively, improving ease of use and performance. -- Quality system integrator partnerships: Partners like ClearManage in Singapore, Nekonet in Finland, and FMS Ltd., in Northern Ireland have demonstrated the global demand for NexentaStor, which offers enterprise level capabilities with breakthrough price / performance, often resulting in savings to end users of 80-90% vs. legacy solutions.
Evan Powell, CEO of Nexenta Systems said, "We're clearly riding a swell of Open Storage adoption; for example, just in the last week we have had record turn out at a hack-a-thon organized by the open source project we sponsor, NexentaCore. Also, our in-house development team continues to grow and to hit their milestones while being extremely responsive to customers. We have a leading consulting firm using us for the automation of VMware storage who calls us their best vendor in large part because our international engineering team listens and responds quickly to feedback and suggestions."
Since NexentaStor was first released as a freely available beta product in November 2007 over 3,000 users have downloaded the storage management software. NexentaStor is available in a free Developer Edition and in a fully supported, commercial-grade Enterprise Edition.
