MELBOURNE, Australia, August 13, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Vix ERG has announced another successful tender for the supply of its new range of iVal(TM) products, this time in Italy in the city of Bolzano in the country's northern alps. This is the first iVal product sale into Italy.
Longstanding Vix ERG client - the Provincia di Bolzano has helped bolster the growth of the iVal family of products with Vix ERG France signing off on a contract on the 19th of July to supply 1,050 magnetic and contactless V6000 validators and 630 contactless only CP6500 validators. With the successful completion of this order, Vix ERG will have deployed over 15,000 iVal devices since the product was first introduced to the market in 2009.
Bolzano transport operator Societa Autobus Alto Adige (SAD) will act on behalf of the Province administration and will liaise with Vix ERG directly for the project supply.
The iVal products are designed to enable more efficient ticket issuance, smart card issuance, smart card loading and fare processing along with a much improved user experience making use of state of the art color displays, digital audio and visual cues. Vix ERG's products are designed specifically for use on buses, trams, ferries, station platforms, point of sale sites and ticket offices in a wide range of environmental conditions. The platform is based on ERG's Viper card reader family and provides a support to a future upgrade path to support of NFC and EMV in the devices.
This supply is of great technological importance to the Provincia di Bolzano, who are completely rethinking the current fare structure and are expecting to introduce a new check in / check out system early next year, said John Ottaviani, Vix ERG's Technical Manager in the region. The total value of the contract is in the order of 1.7M Euros.
