BARCELONA, November 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Safelayer Secure Communications S.A. (http://www.safelayer.com ), a leader in the development of technology for managing digital identification and trust in information, has been chosen to provide centralized electronic signature and validation service technology, via its TrustedX platform, to the Catalan Certification Agency (CATCert). This new milestone means the company strengthens its position in the managed certification and security services providers sector.
Over the last year, Safelayer has increased its market share in projects aimed at the managed security services providers (MSSPs), such as certification services providers (CSPs). The Spanish security software developer holds a solid position in this sector. It has a client portfolio that includes the Spanish Directorate General of the Police and Civil Guard (the national eID card-the DNIe, and the ePassport), the Royal Spanish Mint (CERES-FNMT), Banesto, Izenpe, CATCert, the General Council of Spanish Bar Associations (CGAE), the Land and Mercantile Registrars Association of Spain, the National Postal Administration of Uruguay, Portugal's Notariocert and Colombia's Sociedad Cameral de Certificación Digital. CATCert, which was already using Safelayer's KeyOne certification technology, will now also rely on the TrustedX platform to deploy its managed eSignature service.
The managed security services sector, which includes certification services, has seen continued growth for some years now, and Safelayer, currently directly and indirectly in the process of closing several international contracts, foresees that it will continue to grow owing to the development of cloud computing. According to Francisco Jordan, Safelayer's CEO: The improvement in digital identity and security management is an increasing business priority owing to the need to reduce fraud and costs. This, coupled with the advantages provided by the cloud paradigm, particularly in terms of cost reduction, accessibility and availability, means big opportunities and clear paths for growth for the sector comprising the providers of the different security services, such as authentication and electronic signature.
MSSPs and CSPs provide the necessary guarantees for Internet security and trust deployment, both from the technical and legal perspectives. They also have an important role in facilitating and streamlining the development of applications that require eID and eSignature mechanisms. Safelayer products, which offer the most complete solution in their category, are aimed at implementing both on-premise security services and those managed and deployed by trusted third parties (TTPs), which includes cloud-based security services. Safelayer products have obtained the Common Criteria (CC) EAL4+ quality certification, which means they provide the maximum trust required for this type of critical infrastructures.
