Sandbridge announced today it has partnered with Samsung to develop an LTE capable platform based on Sandbridge's cutting-edge technology. Specifically, Samsung will showcase several LTE devices, including Sandbridge's platform at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona February 16-19. The LTE communication system is powered by Sandbridge's SB3500 flexible baseband processor -- a multi-core, multi-threaded, dynamically reprogrammable processor.
The flexibility of the Sandbridge SB3500 platform has been very helpful to Samsung, said Mr. ByungDuck Cho, Head of Telecom RD, Digital Media Communication Business, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Development for the LTE communication system was led by Samsung, with Sandbridge providing technical support. The Sandbridge platform, ideal for new OFDMA based standards (Mobile WiMAX, LTE, etc.), has been applied to Samsung's Mobile WiMAX platform as well.
