- Newest Version Provides Application Acceleration with Lower Total Cost of Ownership
Syncsort (http://www.syncsort.com/), a global leader in data integration, data protection, and data sorting, announced the release of DMExpress 5.0, Syncsort's high-speed data integration software solution that accelerates ETL, data warehousing, BI and other mission-critical applications. The new release combines functional enhancements and new platform support with incomparable ease-of-use, allowing customers to transform and aggregate even larger volumes of disparate data from multiple, heterogeneous sources faster and at a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). By using DMExpress as an application accelerator, companies are able to make better and timelier business decisions as they increase their ROI.

Functional enhancements to sources and targets mean that SAP, IBM Mainframe and MicroFocus users can now take advantage of accelerated processing with DMExpress 5.0. Also included in DMExpress 5.0 is support for additional data types, such as Oracle Large Objects. Optimized performance for platforms like Netezza and Vertica significantly reduces data processing time, in some cases cutting data load time by over 80 percent. Further enhancements include additional standardization, cleansing, and validation functions to increase data quality, as well as right-time information delivery to ensure that data remain actionable.
Syncsort's commitment has always been to provide high-speed solutions to the performance problems of any mission critical data integration process or application, says Harvey Tessler, Syncsort's Senior Vice President of Marketing, With its support of SAP, IBM Mainframe, and MicroFocus, as well as its tailored optimization for Netezza and Vertica, DMExpress 5.0 integrates smoothly into our customers' processes and applications, allowing them to focus on what they do best: their business.
The new release comes on the heels of Syncsort's achievement of a new ETL world record which broke the 1 GB per second barrier and also smashed the previous benchmark set by Microsoft and Unisys. In November, Syncsort's DMExpress extracted, transformed, and loaded 5.4 TB of raw TPC-H data into a Vertica Analytic Database at an unprecedented rate of 1.6 GB per second. Deployed on highly cost-efficient HP c7000 Blade servers, the DMExpress solution also set a new cost standard of US$46 per GB hour, up to 97 percent less than those of previous record holders who set marks of US$636 and US$1,538 per GB hour.
The added functionality in DMExpress 5.0 coupled with the world record achievement reaffirms Syncsort as a leader in the field of data integration, says Tessler, Our continued commitment to providing high-speed, cost-efficient solutions has redefined the cost of data integration as companies look to tighten their belts and increase results in 2009.
