CASTLEFORD, England, July 26, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Teva UK Limited, the UK's leading generics manufacturer, has opened up its Student Bursary Scheme for the third year running.

The company launched the bursary scheme in 2008 as part of plans to extend its support of pharmacy in the UK. Student bursaries are available to students who want to gain a degree-level qualification in pharmacy or similar but may suffer hardship without additional financial support. Last year, bursaries were awarded to five individuals currently studying for a pharmacy degree at university, who each receive a payment of GBP500 for up to three years of study, providing they continue their studies.

Teva is running the scheme again in 2010, and says that it is now more important than ever to offer this kind of help. Lynda Wilebore, the company's UK HR Director, said: We hope this scheme will make an important contribution to lives of under-privileged students in the UK, particularly at a time when financial considerations are becoming a prime concern for individuals wishing to undertake a degree course.

The Student Bursary Scheme is open to any UK home student who is either already attending, or who has been offered a place on, any full-time UK-based undergraduate course approved by a school of pharmacy or similar. Each year, bursaries comprising of GBP500 payment for each year of study will be offered to students who may suffer difficulty without additional financial support. Applicants should be in receipt of the Education Maintenance Allowance or Carers Allowance. The closing date for the next round of applications is 30th September 2010.
