MANCHESTER, England, November 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- We've all been there - gone to the loo, to find - no loo paper...and now, the situation has been made into a short film - Bog Standard - aimed to focus attention on World Toilet Day and the global sanitation crisis.

Bog Standard is the brainchild of Manchester film producer Chris Lane and writer/director Colin Warhurst. Shot on location in a Salford toilet, and sponsored by leading disabled toilet provider Clos-o-Mat, the film casts a humorous, but buttock-clenching-look at John, whose toilet break at work turns into a nightmare when he realizes there is no toilet tissue in the cubicle....

The film is to be made available to watch online for free on November 19 (World Toilet Day), at http://www.bogstandardfilm.com. It will be supported by advertising, and every play will generate money for WaterAid, the charity whose mission is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities.

Beth Jepson, video production officer at WaterAid, says, "It's fantastic to see the importance of sanitation being championed on World Toilet Day. We hope that the creativity and humour of Bog Standard will draw attention to a very serious issue - that a staggering 2.6 billion people worldwide are living without the basic sanitation that we are lucky enough to take for granted."

Chris elaborates, "As filmmakers, Colin and I are hoping that the humour of Bog Standard will encourage people to talk about the issues around sanitation, which remains a seriously neglected topic. Everyone can identify with John's dilemma, and art and humour are probably the best ways to get people talking about this sticky subject."
