MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA, February 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcatel-Lucent today announced that it has been selected by China Telecom to deploy IMS trial networks in Shanghai and Shandong province. Alcatel-Lucent's end-to-end IMS solution will enable China Telecom to build a next generation core infrastructure in order to evolve its network and to provide advanced multimedia services. With the two wins which were secured through Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Alcatel-Lucent's flagship company in China, Alcatel-Lucent has become the sole supplier of IMS solutions to Shandong Telecom, and a major supplier to Shanghai Telecom for Shanghai Expo 2010.

To satisfy the highly demanding telecom services at Shanghai Expo 2010, Shanghai Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent to customize many of its innovative applications, in particular, video services, including EV-DO video call, video share, video customer service, multimedia ringback tone and click to dial. The project will serve as a benchmark for China Telecom in Southern China in deploying IMS solutions for value added services
