LONDON, September 24 /PRNewswire/ --

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) postal automation subsidiary, Solystic, will display a wide range of its industry-leading mail processing technologies at Post Expo, the international postal technology exhibition and conference.

Post Expo takes place from 30 September to 2 October 2008 at ExCel, London and is the world's leading event focused on strategy, technology and services for the global postal sector. Solystic is a major sponsor of Post Expo.

"We are strongly positioned to grow our business in the UK and in international markets where we have considerable capabilities to offer," said Pierre-Andre Barriere, chairman and chief executive officer of Solystic. "Our mail sorting systems are based on tried-and-tested technology, reliability and performance and offer solutions that fully meet the market's requirements for greater levels of productivity, reliability and flexibility."

The Solystic stand will feature the TOP 2000 flat mail processing machine, iLSM letter sorting machines and MARS sequencing machines. Scale models of each will be on display together with a full-size sorting machine module from an iLSM. There will also be working demonstrations showing how the MARS mail sorting machine can provide sorting not only for letters but also for flat mail up to the C4 format envelopes. The demonstration will show that both paper and plastic envelopes can be processed through the machine.

In addition, Solystic will be participating in the conference at Post Expo and will give a presentation on Wed 1 October.

Solystic's Katty Pascal, programme manager, and Frederic Badier, programme management director, will join a speaker from Royal Mail for a presentation on Flat mail processing in the UK: a new way ahead.

In May 2007, Solystic was awarded a contract with Royal Mail (UK) for the supply and installation of TOP2000 high-performance sorting machines for oversize mail. Each of these state-of-the-art machines is capable of automatically sorting 38,000 flat mail pieces an hour.

The 20 TOP2000 machines ordered by Royal Mail are part of its Flats Automation Project and will augment the 11 machines already in service. Each piece of equipment will consist of two entry lines and between 264 and 312 outputs and will include a self-diagnostic system.

More than 30 TOP2000 machines are currently in service.
