- Fastest Growing Broadband Provider in Spain Fortifies DNS, Prepares for Future Growth and New Services

With more than 1.2 million subscribers and a network that spans the country, ONO recognized that the subscriber Internet experience is dependent on DNS performance and made the decision to upgrade their DNS. Nominum was the only vendor that offered the performance, resilience, protection against security threats, and availability that would ensure the secure and quality Internet user experience ONO has become known for.
With the upgrade, more than 90% of the DNS traffic is handled by three Nominum DNS servers. The previously deployed open source based solution required a larger server hardware footprint, and accommodating future DNS and Internet traffic growth was going to require the addition of even more servers on a regular basis.
"The broadband market is extremely competitive and ONO has differentiated by offering the best Internet access services available today. To ensure that we continue to grow and lead the market we made a decision to upgrade our DNS infrastructure," said Carlos Moreno, CIO of ONO. "With Nominum software, our network is faster and simpler; more importantly, we are positioned to take advantage of DNS based service offerings from Nominum in the future that further improve our users' Internet experience."
"Nominum's carrier grade DNS allows providers to thrive as more subscribers use Web 2.0 applications on their networks," said Tom Tovar, CEO of Nominum. "We are in a unique position to help carriers and service providers around the world fortify their networks and build value added DNS-based subscriber services that improve the user experience and fortify the bottom line."
