This afternoon I will attempt to stream the transit of Venus live on an embedded stream on this website.

Meanwhile here are some resources on observing the transit.

First a personal opinion, don't bother with using a so called "pinhole projector".  The image of the sun projected is a point of light, you are then looking for a tiny tiny point of dark on a tiny point of light.

The technique I will use is to use a telescope with the eyepieces removed to project an image which a webcam can then focus on.  NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN ESPECIALLY THROUGH A TELESCOPE WITH YOUR EYEBALLS.  It could well be the last thing you ever see.

I haven't done this before, so it may not work.

This is the not so high Tech setup I am using to try and make this observation.  The refracting telescope is mated to a HD webcam with autofocus that can be a bit tricky at times.  The telescopes lenses are not perfectly clean either.  Further more, I will be making adjustments by had as I need to.  (Not all of the spots you see will actually be on the sun.  Pay attention to the relatively large moving shadow. my not so high tech setup.

IF you get tired of my inexperiened and Ill equipped attempt there's always Nasa's coverage.   As a matter of fact just enjoy their coverage.  I knocked off at about 6:25 Central time as I was tired of all the little adjustments I had to make.  Note to self, consider getting a more high tech telescope.   Thanks for watching this with me.

To be honest 90% of the fun for me was observing it myself.

This is a video from the Adler Planetarium which discusses DIY ways to observe the transit of venus.

Here is one more good resource for this event.
