Participants from anywhere across the globe will be able to chat live with representatives of international business schools, network with other candidates, watch school and programme presentations, download MBA profiles and attend real-time webcasts, all without having to leave their home or office.
The first MBA Wired Virtual Event will be held on June 3rd, 2010, and will host a range of schools from Asia, Europe and the USA, who will be presenting their MBA, eMBA and online MBA programmes. Additional information on careers, salaries, entry tests such as GMAT and TOEFL, will be part of the event's live discussions and presentations. MBA Wired is scheduled to take place in East Asia's early evening. This will allow candidates from APAC to take part after work, while representatives from business schools in Europe and the US will be logging in during work hours.
Offering business schools the chance to get to know candidates online meets the need for more efficient matching, saving time and energy on both sides, said Jerome Hainz, Manager, eBusiness, UBM Asia. Schools spend a considerable part of their marketing budgets on running road shows overseas, quite often without knowing the type of candidates they will meet. MBA Wired provides them with the platform to get in touch with international candidates prior to face-to-face meetings.
The virtual setting allows admissions officers to staff their booths independently of physical locations with school representatives from all levels, students and alumni. Imagine the impact a school can make if a candidate can first chat in English with the dean, logged in from Paris, then chat in his native language with a countryman based on a campus in Asia and finally talk to an alumni in London, all on the same platform at the same time, stated Hainz.
MBA Wired APAC is the first truly international MBA fair as candidates can make use of the virtual environment to attend the event not only from Asia but from all parts of the world.
